Opposition leaders in Quebec say the government is not acting fast enough to reduce traffic congestion in Montreal.
Pauline Marois, the head of the Parti Quebecois, is calling on Premier Jean Charest to hold a joint summit with Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
Marois hopes the meeting would pressure the government to build a replacement for the Champlain Bridge.
The demand is one of many on a long list the PQ leader says needs to be done to reduce traffic chaos as millions of Quebecers head back to work and school.
Marois complains the Charest government has had eight years to come up with solutions but has failed.
She made her comments Wednesday at a press conference on Nun’s Island.
Marois was joined by other opposition MNAs including Transport critic Nicolas Girard.
Meanwhile, a new public transit interest group has been formed, calling on government to invest more in public transit in the future.
Transport Minister Sam Hamad said he’ll release details of plans to improve public transit on Thursday.
