After two more days of hot and humid temperatures, Montrealers can expect their city to cool down, just in time for the long weekend.
"Tomorrow and Friday, it will continue to be warm and humid with a chance of showers on both days," said Environment Canada meteorologist Rene Heroux. "But after that, it's the end of this heat wave."
A high heat and humidity warning was in effect Wednesday for Montreal, with the humidex reaching 38C. Highs for Thursday and Friday are 28C and 32C respectively, with a 60 per cent chance of precipitation forecasted on both days.
When temperatures are this high, Heroux urged people to find shade when possible, drink lots of water, and to take more breaks.
For those celebrating the long weekend, they will do so in more manageable temperatures.
"The weekend will be much cooler," Heroux said. "Highs of 20C and 17C for Saturday and Sunday, so for this warm weather, there is only two more days to go."
